Peer Mediators

Our Peer Mediators are Year 5 and 6 children who want to be a support for the other children in school. They apply for their position and take on the role for the whole school year.

These children help the other children to resolve their conflicts within friendship groups during break times and lunch times.

They receive training to help them within this role and have their own Peer Mediator Hut where the children are taken to settle their disagreements in private.

Our Peer Mediators must undergo several training sessions to help them to understand how to resolve problems which other children may have. They have enjoyed their role play sessions during which they played the part of both disputants and mediators to give them the skills they need to be great Peer Mediators!

“Peer mediation training is one of the best things I have EVER done. We did many activities as well as making posters to raise awareness and we’ve also learnt something called’The Glide’!”
