Year 3 are looking forward to another exciting term full of new learning and experiences.

English

In English, we will be reading Flat Stanley and the Great Egyptian Grave Robbery. Children will write an explanation text explaining the mummification process, linking closely with our history learning.

Maths

In the Spring term we will be focussing multiplication and division before moving on to learning about fractions.

You can help your child at home by encouraging them to learn their times tables and completing their maths homework.

History

Our history topic this term is the Ancient Egyptians. We will learn about daily life, beliefs and the importance of mummification.

Geography

In geography, we will explore volcanoes, learning how they are formed and where they are found around the world.

Science

In science, we will first learn about animals, including humans, focusing on nutrition, skeletons and muscles. Later in the term, we will move on to forces and magnets, exploring how magnets attract and repel and how forces affect movement.

Art

In art, we will study famous buildings and later explore the work of Andy Warhol.

Music

In music, children will learn Three Little Birds and The Dragon Song, developing rhythm and performance skills.

Computing

In computing, we will work on sequencing sounds and then move on to using branching databases.

PE

PE lessons will include gymnastics and tag rugby in Spring 1, followed by cricket and dodgeball in Spring 2.

RE

In RE, we will learn how festivals and family life show what matters to Jewish people, before exploring why Christians call the day Jesus died ‘Good Friday’.

PSHE

In PSHE, children will focus on Dreams and Goals before moving on to learning about Healthy Me.

Trips

We are looking forward to our visit to Liverpool Museum, which will support our history learning.
