Year 5 are looking forward to an exciting and engaging summer term, with lots of opportunities for learning across the curriculum.

English

In English, we will be reading The Demon Headmaster, using the text to inspire our writing and develop our reading and comprehension skills.

Maths

 In maths, we will be focusing on time, shape and statistics, building confidence across these key areas.

How to tell the time

You can help your child at home by encouraging them to learn their times tables and completing their maths homework.

History

Our history topic this term is the Anglo-Saxons, where we will learn about how they lived and their impact on Britain.

Geography

In geography, we will explore energy, learning about different sources and how energy is used in our everyday lives.

Science

In science, we will study animals, including humans, focusing on changes over time, before moving on to living things and their habitats, exploring life cycles and classification.

Art and DT

In art, we will study the work of Frida Kahlo, creating our own pieces inspired by her style. In DT, children will design and build bridges, developing their construction and evaluation skills.

Computing

In computing, we will explore vector drawing before moving on to selection in quizzing in programming, developing our digital creativity and coding skills.

Scratch – Imagine, Program, Share

Music

In music, we will learn Dancing in the Street before taking time to Reflect, Rewind and Replay, developing our performance and listening skills.

PE

PE lessons will include athletics, swimming and tennis, helping children to develop teamwork and physical skills.

RE

In RE, we will explore What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today? Before considering Why do some people believe in God and some people not?

PSHE

In PSHE, children will focus on Relationships and Changing Me.

Trip
